    Description

Of Mice and Men is a novella by John Steinbeck.

    Summary of the Book

Set during the Great Depression, this is the story of two migrant field workers in California. George Milton and Lennie Small dream of owning a small farm someday. They find work on a ranch in California's Salinas Valley. Lennie is fond of touching soft things, and dreams of owning rabbits on the farm. However, his dream works against him as he is accused of rape for holding on to a lady’s dress just to feel the fabric. Lennie’s own strength and naïveté and George’s protective feelings towards him form the rest of the story as they struggle against misunderstanding, jealousy and the impossibility of their own dream in that day and age.

    A poignant tale of friendship

Seldom in life you come across a tome whose essence lingers in your mind like a strand of dark hair on white Formica surface. In the deluge of hot-cake fiction meant for the consumption the masses bearing such headers on its jacket as "unputdownable" and "sensational", this novella will strike you one that really does credit to the aforementioned words. Apart from Khaled Hosseni's two masterpieces, especially The Kite Runner, I don't think I have ever been moved to tears by any book apart fro...

    Excellent Classic

I decided to purchase this book after reading a quote from the book and review from an article. Very gripping narration and a good classic novel. Paints a vivid picture of the great depression and life around the rural US.Worth to be in an enthusiasts collection.

    Incredible !!!

'Of Mice and Men' is a gem of a work. Despite being a short text, the characters spread over the canvass effortlessly. George and Lennie take you on a wonderful journey with extreme emotions laden with witty humour and all of it happens so quickly that it leaves you emotionally drained. I personally fell in love with the character of Lennie who was a contradiction of sorts but immensely lovable. You start visualising the characters as if the story is unfolding right in front of you. The writi...

    Packs a mighty punch

I agree with all the other reviewers here. Its a short, simple, sad, hard hitting (to the extent of being gut wrenching) realistic look at life in America in a different time. I wish it was longer but however you look at it, Of Mice And Men deserves its spot as one of English literature's finest works.

    Of Mice and Men

A brilliant book by John Steinbeck. It personafies the culture of the time trying to lead the author to an better understanding of they percieve as important. Written at a time of oppurtunity, it is a simple read showing us the simplicity with which our lives maybe lived if we decide correctly what is important in this life.
