Book from the Test Creators...

A very good book to brush up and understand all concepts essential to prepare yourself for gre as many have already mentioned.

But you cannot attempt gre and expect to do well by preparing only from this book. This book is just the initial guide to you, its the first step you take... Then once you are confident of solving tougher problems and go deeper into the chapters, I certainly recommend the Manhattan series of 8 books. Though it is on the expensive side at about 8k, its worth as you w...

Good for quantitative, refer elsewhere for verbal

This was the first book available with the revised format and hence the first one I referred to. The quantitative section is well covered in this book with plenty of practice problems as well as a good coverage of concepts. However, the verbal section left a lot to be desired. I preferred using the KAPLAN work book to help me out with that. But after giving the exam, I did feel that the sample problems and papers in this book are the closest to the actual examination.

Too concise to be good

This is an excellent book but for someone who has already prepared for the GRE and wants to test his preparation . It is unnecessarily precise for a beginner . I suggest beginners to couple this book with Kaplan or Barron's , in the same order . The only thing good about this book is it's Math Review section , it learnt a lot of new concepts from it .
It's Analytical writing section is USELESS though .
In my score of 314 , this book though i did read it had no contribution . go for Kaplan ...

A good book for Quant Section

This is a very good book for maths/Quant section. The have explained every topic in maths and it has several examples and problems on almost every single topic in Maths. But kind of 'Average' when it comes to English. They have explained the pattern very nicely and the information provided in reliable as the book is written by the test makers themselves.
Overall a good book to have some general idea of GRE test and exceptionally good one for Maths preparation.

Good for look and feel of the NEW GRE

A good book to begin prep for the GRE. As it's from the original makers, it's the closest you'll get to the actual test and it gives you a good look and feel right at the very outset to the format of the new GRE.
Do not rely on it as a sole guide for the test though, use it as your base and practice from multiple sources.

Good book to get idea about new gre pattern

This is good book for those who are looking to understand new GRE pattern. The most of the content in this book is available on ETS GRE website in pdf format.
But, this book enlists question under easy, medium and hard types. This is gives good idea about kind of hardest questions that might appear in actual exam.

very fastidious

the book, being published by the test pioneers itself is a perfect companion and a guru to aid you to tackle the gre exams. the most accentuating feat is the three level tests entailed to both test and juxtapose their capabilities...overall, this book is the intrinsic part of gre preparation as it guides you by holding your hand to the different efficacious strategies and very cushy ways of tackling the perplexing questions. to top it all, it includes a disc which reproduces the online test a...

Great book. Exactly what the candidates need

This is a great book to start with, and for people who want to know what GRE is all about. This should not be the only book that you study from! If you judge this book by the quality and number of questions it has, you are wrong. This is not a practice book, but only something to get started with. It's a must have for every GRE aspirant!

Important Book to understand the Course

This is very nice book with examples given for do and don't in preparation of GRE.
In contrast to that, Please don't consider this as a study guide, this is just a book to guide you through the pattern and other basic stuff.
For preparation you will definitely need another book.

For the REVISED GRE, A Must Have Book**

The official guide to the REVISED GRE, is a must have book for GRE aspirants. 50 - 65 % preparation is done by just working out this book.
and the rest of the preparation does needs a supplementary for The GRE PREP. it can be KAPLAN or PRINCETON. I ll personally suggest BARRON's :)
Best of Luck.
