The King of Horror writes about his favourite activity, the art of writing itself in this memoir. Stephen King’s On Writing is part-autobiography and part discussion on the difficulties and joys of writing.

    Summary of the Book

What does it mean to be a writer? Is it all fun and games? Is one in it for the money? How does a bestselling writer like Stephen King still manage to find the stories and the ideas to write? In this book, the King of Horror reveals all. He writes of his first stories, his earliest tryst with writing, and his love of the craft. He discusses the tools he uses, both physical and mental. He also writes of an important aspect of writing, the muse. He discusses how he nearly gave up after Carrie was rejected time and again, and how his beloved wife, Tabitha King, salvaged the text out of the garbage bin and coaxed him to try it one more time. He discusses the accident which nearly cost him his life, and which changed his thoughts on the art forever. This is a book which everyone who dreams of becoming a published author must read, a book that will provide solace to a writer facing the dreaded block, and company to one whose rejection notes number in the two digits. Come, join the King and discover what it means to call yourself a writer.

    Words From the King..

This is my first time reading ANYTHING from Stephen King. I have seen movies based on his work, never really enjoyed them much, but never read anything from him novel-wise.

SO, as a budding writer, I decided to pick up his memoirs because apparently they had him teaching us finer points of writing as well. I may have not read any of his work and seen only terrible Hollywood adaptations of them, but I will not deny that he is indeed the master at writing, considering millions of copies he has...

    Among the very best

Flipkart's delivery was way ahead of schedule. So thanks for that.
This book really gets into what the writer goes through when he is composing his story. This book is about how you can do the same. Mr King does a great job of showing the several aspects of writing and is kind of a guide that worked for him - and might also work for other writers. He has, in his inimitable style, mentioned about several incidents that shaped his writing career. It was so humorous at times that I had to stop ...

    Stephen King : The Master

I always had this question in my mind, how does Stephen King think about all these characters and how he weaves them into a story which makes the book so very hard to put down once reading gets going.

Well "The Master" of thrills and chills finally spills out the beans to the art of writing a horror story and keep the readers glued to the book. A book which gives a good insight to the aspiring writers.

If you are a die hard fan of Stephen King, I would highly recommend this book, it is a ...

    A must for Writers

Stephen King at his best. It is a part memoir and also a book on writing. King gives some cool tips for writers and he covers all the parts about writing. Except the publishing part. Loved it. Very inspiring.
