  • Description

Othello is a popular tragedy by William Shakespeare. The story revolves around Othello, the Moor of Venice, and Desdemona, the love of his life.

    Summary of the Book

Othello is a tragedy with jealousy and betrayal being its main themes. Desdemona and Othello have married each other in secret and this upsets Roderigo. Iago, Othello’s ensign, is furious and hates Othello for recruiting Michael Cassio above him. He decides to use Roderigo to get his revenge on the Moor of Venice. He convinces Roderigo to tell Desdemona’s father, Brabantio, about her elopement and goes away to warn Othello that Brabantio is coming after him. Iago then causes misunderstanding between Othello and Cassio by making him think that Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair. Jealousy takes over Othello, who is madly in love with Desdemona. Will Othello be able to confront his love without causing any harm to both of them?
