How does Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan work?

Add Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan along with your device ( eligible Mobile Phone or Tablet) and pay using Credit Card Credit Card EMI or Bajaj Finserv EMI Card to get an instant advance of up to 30% on your purchase. The advance will be applied as an instant discount on the payment page once you select either Credit Card, Credit Card EMI or Bajaj Finserv EMI Card as the mode of payment and enter the card number. Flipkart Smart Upgrade is available on select devices.

After 12 months,

  1. Want a new device? Purchase a new device on Flipkart and give back your original device.
  2. Want to keep your device? Make a payment for the instant advance amount received at the time of purchase

Please note, the discount is being offered as an advance against the exchange value of the device after 12 months. In case you do not upgrade & give back your device or repay the advance amount, your device will get locked until the remaining payment is made. Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan is available on select models by select brands only.

How do I buy Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan? What happens if I do not use Credit Card, Credit Card EMI, Bajaj Finserv EMI Card to complete the payment?

Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan can be purchased on select Devices sold by select sellers for a nominal fee. You will need to add the ‘Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan’ digital product by clicking on the ‘+’ button and click on Buy Now. Please choose Credit Card/Credit Card EMI/Bajaj Finserv EMI Card on the Payments page in order for the offer to get applied.

If you do not use Credit Card/Credit Card EMI/Bajaj Finserv EMI Card to complete the payment, you will not get the benefits of the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan.

I paid using Debit Card/UPI/Cash on Delivery and did not get the Instant Advance amount? Can I get the offer now?

We recommend that you cancel your purchase if this option is available and purchase the device and Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan once again. Please ensure that you check if the device is still in stock and make the payment using Credit Card/Credit Card EMI/Bajaj Finserv EMI Card.

In case you are not cancelling the purchase, you will be eligible to get a discount equal to the instant advance amount when you exchange your current device for a new device on Flipkart within the specified exchange window.

I have added Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan but I am still being charged 100% of the price of the device. Why am I not getting the offer?

Please ensure that you have selected Credit Card/Credit Card EMI/Bajaj Finserv EMI Card as the payment instrument on the Payment Page and entered the card number, in order for the offer to get applied. In case the offer is still not getting applied, please check the following:

  • Please ensure that you have not combined the payment with any gift vouchers or Supercoins.
  • Smart Upgrade Plan will not be applicable if you are clubbing the purchase with an exchange offer or buyback guarantee redemption.
  • Smart Upgrade Plan cannot be availed more than twice per customer for Mobiles and cannot be availed more than once per customer for Tablets.
  • Smart Upgrade Plan is only available in select pin codes.
  • The Smart Upgrade Plan is not applicable on transactions made through PhonePe device or PayTM payment option or any other wallet.

What happens when I cancel my device order?

If you choose to cancel your device order, the price of the device and the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan will be refunded to you, and the program stands cancelled.

Can I cancel or return the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan?

No, the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan cannot be cancelled or returned.

How do I upgrade my product after my Smart Upgrade plan duration?

At the end of 12 months, you will be able to redeem the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan value by purchasing another device on Flipkart sold by select sellers. If you wish to upgrade your device, at the time of purchase of your next device, you simply opt for 'Claim Flipkart Smart Upgrade/Claim Buyback' on the product page. Post your order placement, the wishmaster will take back your old device and handover your new device. Your old device should fulfil the checks performed during pickup.

Can I upgrade to any product at the end of the plan duration? Are there any restrictions?

Yes, you can upgrade to any product provided it is from the same category as the first product (i.e., you can upgrade from one phone to another but not from a phone to a laptop).

If I decide to return my product and upgrade to a new product, how much should I pay for the second product?

At the end of the plan duration, if you decide to return your product and purchase a new product, you will have two options:

1 - Buy a new Smart Upgrade plan and avail benefits as per the new plan you choose

2 - Buy without a Smart Upgrade Plan and pay the full price for the product

Please note: If you choose to upgrade, there will be no additional discount as part of the first Smart Upgrade Plan.

Will I get any offers on my next product?

All available offers on the platform will be applicable.

In case I want to keep the device, how can I repay the discount amount?

At the end of plan duration, you will be able to make a payment by visiting the My Orders -> Flipkart Smart Upgrade section on Flipkart platform.

What if I don't upgrade?

In case you wish to keep your product, you have to repay the advance amount you availed at the time of purchase.

Till when can I repay?

Your repayment is due on or before the due date mentioned in the Plan Details page. Your product may also be locked depending on the nature & brand of the product purchased. If for some reason, you are unable to make the repayment before the due date, Flipkart will support a repayment till 90 days after your due date. However, Late Payment charges may apply. This may or may not be offered, based on factors like device, brand, lending partner, and will be subject to applicable terms and conditions, to a maximum of 90 days after your due date.

Can I choose any payment instrument if I wish to repay the advance?

You can repay via any payment options except Flipkart Pay Later and EGV (Gift Cards/Vouchers).

What will happen if I don’t upgrade my device or repay the discount amount after plan duration?

If you do not upgrade the device or reapay the discount amount within the stipulated time, your device will be locked using a locking solution provided by the brand depending on the brand of the device purchased, and you will not be able to use the device anymore until the due amount is repaid.

What checks will be performed on my old phone at the time of pickup?

  1. Brand and model of the old device should match with the original device purchased on Flipkart with the Smart Upgrade Plan.
  2. The IMEI number of the old device should match with the original device purchased on Flipkart with the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan.
  3. The device should switch on and should be in the ON mode for a minimum of 30 seconds without being connected to a charger

I purchased a phone with Smart Upgrade. On what conditions will the device not be picked up during upgrade?
Products with the following issues will not be picked up:

  1. Device screen and the body of the device should not be damaged or broken.
    1. Dead pixels, spots, lines or static on any part of the screen/display
    2. Cracks on the screen or light emitting from the side of the screen
    3. Cracks on the panel, dents in the body, swollen handsets and devices with missing buttons missing
    4. Devices with a damaged charging port.
    5. Original box, charger, headphones and accessories to be returned are in good condition
    6. Screen lock should not be active (all forms of screen lock viz; pattern, pin, password, fingerprint, face recognition, smart lock, etc. need to be deactivated).

Can I buy Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan post the purchase of the device?

As of now, you can only purchase Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan along with the purchase of a device on which the Plan is applicable.

Do I have to compulsory return the device if I purchased the device on Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan?

You can do one of the following:

  • Keep your old device and make the payment for the discount amount
  • Purchase your next device on Flipkart and give back your old device

The option to upgrade my device becomes valid only some months after the date of purchase . Can I upgrade my device or repay the Instant Advance amount before this date as well?

No, the option to upgrade your device or repay the Instant Advance amount would be available only in the specified window. Please check the Plan Details page (My Orders -> Flipkart Smart Upgrade) for the exact duration for your plans.

Are there any conditions for this program?

The device on which the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan is availed shall not be eligible for resale and by opting for this program, you undertake not to resell or lease the device during the program period. In case you opt to give back your device at the end of plan duration, certain checks will be performed by the Flipkart wishmaster at the time of pickup to enable a smooth process. You can only upgrade your device against a new device belonging to the same category (Mobile/Tablet). The upgrade process may not be successful if all the required conditions are not fulfilled and you may have to repay the instant advance amount.

Do I need to give back the original box, charger and accessories along with my device?

Yes, you need to give back the original box, charger, and accessories along with the phone to complete the upgrade process. Else, you may have to pay a nominal charge for every item not being given back.

Are there any pick up charges applicable to pick up my old device?

Yes, nominal pick up charges are applicable.

Is Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan available across all pin codes?

You can avail the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan from all pin-codes where Flipkart offers product exchange pick-up facility.

If I shift from current address to another, can I still avail the upgrade option under Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan?

You can avail the exchange option under Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan as long as the new address falls within the pin-codes where Flipkart offers product exchange pick-up facility.

How can I extend the upgrade or keep (repayment) window?

There will be no extension of due dates for any of the two options. If for some reason, you are unable to make the repayment before the due date, Flipkart will support only a repayment option till 90 days after your due date. However, Late Payment charges may apply. This may or may not be offered, based on factors like device, brand, lending partner, and will be subject to applicable terms and conditions, to a maximum of 90 days after your due date.

Will my product get locked if the delivery date for the new product order is after my due date?

If an upgrade order has already been placed successfully, your product will not be locked until the order is completed.

My product is locked. How can I repay the advance amount?

If your product has been locked after the due date, you can choose to:

Option 1: Login to your Flipkart account from another device & repay
Option 2: Call customer care from the locked device notification & request for a temporary unlock. If payment is successful, the device will be permanently unlocked.

This may or may not be offered, based on factors like device, brand, lending partner, and will be subject to applicable terms and conditions, to a maximum of 90 days after your due date.

Can I avail Smart Upgrade plans on my next purchase as well?

Yes, you can purchase your next product with a Smart Upgrade plan, as long as the Smart Upgrade plan is available on it. Ensure you select the product to be returned on the plan selection page.

What is the Rs.100 buy back value for?

This is a nominal value for the product & accessories being returned.

My pickup got rejected. Do I need to repay the advance amount?

In case your product pickup gets rejected due to any reason, you will need to repay the advance availed before the due date.
