  • Description

Pao is an anthology of comics by several notable writers and graphic artists.

    Summary of the Book

This book brings together a collection of 12 stories from several writers across India. In it, aliens pen science fiction stories, clouds sail through sleepscapes and a boy doesn’t understand that his mother is dead. Several art styles come together to spin stories as varied as the styles themselves. They zoom from quirky and dazzling to contemplative and deep, mesmerising readers with several emotions all at once. From the story in which a spinster aunt demands strawberry ice cream by holding her family hostage to that of the Helmetman as he rides through a city as it is attacked, readers will wonder and roar in laughter as their emotions are tested and set free.

    About the Authors

This book brings together the talents of several writers, featuring art by five artists known as the Pao Collective. The Pao Collective comprises of Orijit Sen, Sarnath Banerjee, Vishwajyoti Ghosh, Parismita Singh and Amitabh Kumar.

    Must have

I like the concept and the stories here, its a nice showcase for Indian writers and creators, some lovely printing too. I suggest there should be small parts of this book also though, like 4 volumes, that would make it easier to read, and to hold too!

Content: Often excellent; Binding: Not so much.

An eclectic selection of stories, collecting representative work from almost every artist/writer of note working in the Indian graphic novel scene today. The anthropomorphically profuse cover-art by Orijit Sen probably owes a debt to Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights. The anthology is compiled keeping a mature readership in mind; unlike the thrill-a-minute pyrotechnics, gratuitous violence, slapstick comedy and overarching theme of good triumphing over evil that usually characterise comics t...

    very Bad binding!

The contents are good and original. but due to the size of the book and the really bad binding, it makes it difficult to hold and read. all my pages have come out within a week!!
i wonder if this is with all books or just my copy.
