Description

Organic Chemistry can be one of the most bewildering of sciences, but with The Prentice Hall Molecular Model Set For Organic Chemistry it is easier than ever to envision the working of atoms in everyday organic substances.

Summary of The Book

Prentice Hall has a long-standing reputation as one of the finest academic publishers in the world and has consistently produced some of the most readable text books around.

Unfortunately, there are certain subjects that just will not lend themselves to be plain texts and one such subject is organic chemistry. But thanks to The Prentice Hall Molecular Model Set For Organic Chemistry, learners of Organic Chemistry can now understand the subject more easily. This kit allows them to piece together whole molecules, so that they can see with their own eyes what exactly the atomic world looks like.

The great thing about these models is that they are extremely flexible in their construction. They also permit learners to analyze almost every part of the molecule’s construction and include the ability to add single, double, or even triple bonds, so that the model is more accurate. Added to this is an instruction booklet that contains photos, diagrams, and concise descriptions of the chemical properties of each of the molecule types. This makes The Prentice Hall Molecular Model Set For Organic Chemistry an ideal resource for both beginners and those who need to refresh their organic chemistry basics.

The set contains color-coded molecules, 2 each of iodine and bromine, which are purple and orange respectively. It also includes 4 blue molecules of nitrogen, 8 red molecules of oxygen, 8 green ones of chlorine, 14 of carbon in black, and 28 of hydrogen in white. There are a total of 80 single bonds, 40 of which are white-space-filling models and the remaining 40 are short grey open models. 12 double long, grey double and triple bonds, which are open models, also form a part of the set.

All in all, this kit is worth having for those who wish to probe into the field of organic chemistry. It has been specially designed to aid visual learners and those who need to work with their hands to really understand a subject.

A permanent companion

I am using this molecular model set since 1988 when it was called The Allyn and Bacon set. It is very handy and useful, and I use it during my lectures. Now I am a retired professor of chemistry from university, but the set is still not 'tired.'

Great for Understanding Stereochemistry

This arrived on time and intact. The pieces are all there. It has been serving me well, because sometimes it provides a really good 3-D visual of what happens to the stereochemistry when a there is an elimination or substitution reaction. I did give it a four stars because the pieces are a little hard to connect and will often to a lot of effort to put together, and pull apart. This problem might go away with more usage.
