Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

What do the different tags like 'In Stock', 'Available' mean?

      'In Stock'

Products‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

Products listed as ‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'

The product is not released yet. You can however ‘book’ an order for this. Shipping happens only after the product launch.

      'Out of Stock'

Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.

Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.

      'Back In Stock Soon'

The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.

      'Temporarily Unavailable'

The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.

      'Permanently Discontinued'

This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.

      'Out of Print'

This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.

Why does the estimated delivery time vary for each seller?

Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.

Please enter your default pin code on the product page to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Seller does not/cannot ship to my area. Why?

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location
      • Legal restrictions, if any, in shipping particular products to your location
      • The availability of reliable courier partners in your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

    Not what I expected

Bought this book based on the high ratings given by other reviewers, but realized I just wasted my money. Few points to consider for people who are contempating buying this book:

    1. It is exorbitantly overpriced for a merely 200+ page book. You'll get much better and useful books for the same or lower price.
    2. The examples are all in Java. Even the interview Q&A sections are all Java based. So if you are planning to buy this book to clear a C# or C++ interview, just forget it!
    3. It does no...

    A True Gem

Generally, like many of Computer Science text books, you've got to read it, if only to say you read it :-)

True, the book is Java focused (it will be somewhat tough for those who only know C / C++) and it has quite a level of sophistication (probably aimed at new learners).

But, that said, it really started a big part of the revolution in OO - open source gave us reusable code, but design patterns gave us reusable solutions to design problems; and this was the book that really "lit the fi...

    Good collection of design questions

Even though author has explained the design patterns, I was more concentrated on design interview question chapter of this book.

That is the core of it and helpful for many architect and big company interviews.

To the point and interview oriented!

The design problems given in the book are really useful. The code snippets are really simple and written in easy way.

I have 7 years experience in IT field in different areas. Earlier, I used to feel like design patterns are the toughest among all areas in computer science. After going through few chapters from this book, I got the impression of becoming an architect (hopefully I will be :)).

    Good one for quick reading

This book is a classic and doesn't require any further presentations. It is THE Design Patterns book and every OO programmer should read at least a couple of times.

The samples are in Java and sometimes C++ but that really doesn't change anything even if you are an other programming language guy.

Discusses the Design Patterns in Lucid way

I have 4 years of IT experience and been struggling to understand Design patterns. I pre-ordered this book and got it one month back. I have been reading this book (for the last 1month) along with Gang of four book. This is book perfectly apt for quick and fast preparation of interviews and for those who want to learn design patterns in simple style.

For each for the design pattern, the authors did not cover too minor details (consequences or corner cases). But the patterns are presented in ...

Can be used as reference for interviews

The main and core part useful in this book is design interview questions chapters and tips.

That chapter explains the problem/solutions in easy way and same can applied for new questions as well.

This book can be used for preparing design interview questions.

    Must buy

This book covers all the important aspects of design patterns.

This book might not e so useful for those who want in-depth analysis of design patterns. It covers the topics from interview point of view.

The design questions discussed are really useful.

    For newbies

First of all, flipkart service is awesome. The book got delivered to me the next day after ordering.

Reviews about the is very elementary. I hate books that use dogs and cats as examples in teaching Object oriented programming and design. There are tons of examples in jdk itself where design patterns are used. I believe listing such examples would be more useful.

    Perfect for Beginners

I am doing my masters at Anna University in Chennai.

I referred Gang of Four book along with this book.

This book can be used as a cookbook and also can be referred if you feel any topic complicated and not understandable in GoF.

I hope, the next edition will contain more design questions in this book.
