To the point and interview oriented!

The design problems given in the book are really useful. The code snippets are really simple and written in easy way.

I have 7 years experience in IT field in different areas. Earlier, I used to feel like design patterns are the toughest among all areas in computer science. After going through few chapters from this book, I got the impression of becoming an architect (hopefully I will be :)).

A True Gem

Generally, like many of Computer Science text books, you've got to read it, if only to say you read it :-)

True, the book is Java focused (it will be somewhat tough for those who only know C / C++) and it has quite a level of sophistication (probably aimed at new learners).

But, that said, it really started a big part of the revolution in OO - open source gave us reusable code, but design patterns gave us reusable solutions to design problems; and this was the book that really "lit the fi...

Discusses the Design Patterns in Lucid way

I have 4 years of IT experience and been struggling to understand Design patterns. I pre-ordered this book and got it one month back. I have been reading this book (for the last 1month) along with Gang of four book. This is book perfectly apt for quick and fast preparation of interviews and for those who want to learn design patterns in simple style.

For each for the design pattern, the authors did not cover too minor details (consequences or corner cases). But the patterns are presented in ...

Worth

This book "Peeling Design Patterns" is a significant work for the beginners to understand. The content in this book is highly self-referential: to understand a particular design pattern, it is important to be familiar with many similar, if not all, design patterns.

As part of introduction, giving notation of UML diagrams helps the readers to connect better and that worked well for me. As an introduction to the patterns field, I first read "GoF" and "Head First Design Patterns", which offers...

Good Book for Architect positions

This book contains questions on design. Covers pretty much useful and all needed questions.

If you are looking for deep insight into design patterns, this might not be a good choice.

Easy to understand with no too much depth.

Design Patterns is required reading for all object-oriented designers, programmers, and architects who want to improve and streamline their design skills.

This book will open your eyes and teach you how to utilize widely accepted and standardized design patterns to implement efficient solutions for frequently encountered design challenges. You'll immediately recognize multiple instances within your own projects in which design patterns would have improved efficiency and reuse within the arc...

Not good for people new to design patterns

I opened the book with lot of excitement. But I am very upset after going through it.

Presentation style of authors is very bad. I was not able to understand what the author is trying to say. So, for most of the design patterns I went through source code first to get some thing out of it and then went to description. Needless to say there are lot of grammatical mistakes. For example on the cover page itself it is written "Narasimha Karumanchi is the Senior Software Developer at Amazon Corpo...

Good one for quick reading

This book is a classic and doesn't require any further presentations. It is THE Design Patterns book and every OO programmer should read at least a couple of times.

The samples are in Java and sometimes C++ but that really doesn't change anything even if you are an other programming language guy.

Good collection of design questions

Even though author has explained the design patterns, I was more concentrated on design interview question chapter of this book.

That is the core of it and helpful for many architect and big company interviews.
