Go for It !

An excellent camera,easy to use, inbuilt image stabilization ( not lens based), 11 focus points, 3 year warranty,comes with a camera bag and an 8 GB SD card( Not mentioned in the offer! ),good built and feel.

Bye bye Nikon, Canon

If you're planning to buy this monster, u definitely must have crossed paths with the Nikon D5100, 5200 and the 3200. But those guys PALE in comparison to this monster.
Following are the features the pentax k500 has. possessed by none of the Nikon or Canon dslrs in this price range:
PENTAPRISM VIEWFINDER: you get to have 100% field of view.
SENSOR BASE SHAKE REDUCTION: In other words, this enables hand-held shooting at shuttter speeds of 1/8-1/4s.
