Loosely based on a novel of the same name by Rick Riordan, directed by Chris Columbus and starring Logan Lerman, Kevin McKidd, and Steve Coogan, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is an adventure family fantasy film that follows a 16-year-old boy, Percy, who finds out that he is the son of Poseidon after the master bolt is stolen from Zeus and the latter accuses Percy of being the thief. Zeus threatens to unleash his wrath upon Percy unless the bolt is returned. Hence, the young demigod must ensue a treacherous journey with a couple of his friends in order to retrieve the mighty bolt.
