This is a good player worth the money.Just a basic player with basic menus and controls.The build quality is OK for the price. Not too fragile or anything. It comes with a tiny remote and a battery is included.
It detects content from my 16gb USB drive without any problem.I have not tested with 32 GB drives or external HDDs however. It does play many formats as mentioned in the spec. But sometimes it does not detect some .avi and mp4 (BluRay Rip). What surprised me more is I never expected it...

Good product given the low price - till now the equipment is running smoothly. Picture quality good and all types of DVDs (PAL/ NSTC) are opening.

However, the volume keys doesn't work - one has to adjust volume through the TV remote. Fast forward key is also not very effective.

Most modern codecs are not supported.

UPDATE****
Went to Philips site to find out what compression techniques are supported. MPEG 1 AND MPEG2 are supported along with avi. If you have a video or movie that does not play on this player, simply convert it to MPEG 2 format using Free video converters like WinFF etc and then play it using a USB pendrive. Deducting one star for not supporting modern codecs.

PHILIPS DVP3638 such a awesome and branded product.Its weightless and design making is outstanding.It could play maximum all formats and USB port also added advantage. Very good player @ this cost with quite an antic look to it.

Plays all DvDs effortlessly, inspite of scratches, Easy to use, Compact n Sturdy, Very useful for Old people - can be handled easily n effectively

Lacks features though, no LCD display - its just a LED-kind of display with just numbers being displayed

I am very pleased to announce that I received very good Philips DVD PLAYER & also in few days. I also recommended FLIPKART TO ALL MY FRIENDS

But support to very less format videos if using USB
other wise its good DVD player

definitely not MP4, FLV and higher formats . its a basic player, worth for its cost my dear friends. AVI files till 360p is played well:)

when compared with other basic players in samsung and sony, the equal par is got for minimum Rs 2800.. then why not go for a cheaper one :)

easy options to handle... sleek remote:) well packed:) No usb recording.....it is said usb of 16gb can be used... i possess 8gb and it has no flaw..... soon ll try with...

Does play few file formats... i had to download a video converter in my lapi to convert for people in my house. Design and the working is the same as it was brought.
it looks like it 'll work some more years
However it did bring this for Rs.2390. And was viewing this page coz my warrenty period is over :D
