Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

What do the different tags like 'In Stock', 'Available' mean?

      'In Stock'

Products‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Available'

Products listed as ‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'

The product is not released yet. You can however ‘book’ an order for this. Shipping happens only after the product launch.

      'Out of Stock'

Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.

      'Imported'

Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.

      'Back In Stock Soon'

The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.

      'Temporarily Unavailable'

The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.

      'Permanently Discontinued'

This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.

      'Out of Print'

This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.

Why does the estimated delivery time vary for each seller?

Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.

Please enter your default pin code on the product page to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Seller does not/cannot ship to my area. Why?

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location
      • Legal restrictions, if any, in shipping particular products to your location
      • The availability of reliable courier partners in your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

Best book if onw need to understand history better

Bipan chandra vs sekhar bandopadhyay :

Bipan chandra : Directly from revolt 1857 with the reasons, which some times left you in boredom (since no background is given).

sekhar bandopadhyay : provides us with the Complete background of history which makes us aware of upcoming events.

I'll suggest this book is for everyone who wants to study history (not just for the optional but only for gs mains, since it makes our understanding firm)

narrative is interesting which gives a nice reading exp...

    NOT for GS Mains History

I bought this book looking at the great reviews people have written for it for UPSC exam. However it was a big disappointment! -

    a. The book does not cover facts and concepts clearly. Only passing reference.

    b. The book is of a higher level than required for GS Mains.

    c. The analysis in the book which people are drooling over is so intellectual that it is wholly unnecessary for atleast GS!

A person who does not have a background in history will struggle with this book. You dont need to...

    Brilliant work!!

I purchased the book from a local bookseller, keeping the new UPSC mains exam pattern in mind. Needless to say, this book has raised and improved my standards of understanding and analytical approach to history.. Have already finished Bipin Chandra's "India struggle for Independence" before this.. However this book is on a completely different level than that..
This book is more mains-oriented and useful in forming analytical answers. Language and presentation is very lucid and keeps the read...

    Not good for UPSC preparation

I bought this book about 3 months ago from Flipkart. My main purpose for purchasing this book was to help with my UPSC - civil service preparation. I started reading this book around 2 days ago and found out this book does not serve my purpose . I have only read around 80 pages or something . The content of the book seems to be more of a review of what each historian had to say about a particular event rather than explaining these events in a detailed sequential manner. Therefore a lot of tim...

Apparently I have received a cheap photocopy of the book I ordered.

I am not at all satisfied with the product quality. The book received by me is a cheap photocopy version of the product that I had ordered online through flipkart, the kind street vendors sell at traffic signals, or maybe even worse than that. Utterly dissatisfied.

The ink used for printing is highly suspicious - the book smells like cyclostyled paper.

The paper quality is bad, overall product quality is disgusting.

Even the front and back cover seem to be printed out of low quality card p...

A must have for history students

This and its translations, remains one of the most useful books for any serious student of modern history. While remaining accessible to the average reader, including school children, it covers the basic views of the important schools of historiography. I personally used this for a crash course before any competitive examination, apart from using it as the basic book for any topic taught in BA (for MA a little more detail is needed, but then this wasn't written for that level)

    And as things ...
