Description

Polka Dots, Pony Tails and Purple Pouts is a contemporary women’s novel written by Amrita Anand Nayak. It depicts the roller coaster ride of love, emotions and situations that three women, Leena, Tia and Jasmine go through. Their pasts have made them what they are and they are still affected by previous experiences when it comes to romantic relationships.

Summary of the Book

Leena always tends to fall for older men. She has an aversion to younger men and loves sporting casual looks most of the time. She has been through trying times that have made her mature beyond her years. But she is still daddy's little angel at heart and adores her recovering, formerly alcoholic father. She tends to get into relationships often and falls out of them just as often. But Leena finally finds the true love of her life in someone she, or anyone, would have never imagined. Tia is a beautiful, extremely talented introvert. She is the jack of all trades, and is into writing or blogging and loves predicting fashion trends. She loves dressing up and loves her polka dotted dress because it gets her the attention of Sam. The shy and timid Tia fights her fears and rises to face the melodramatic family rage. She works to fulfil her passion and ambitions, encouraged all the way by her gem of a boyfriend and two roomies who love her dearly. Jasmine, the most colourful character, lives like a free bird. She has all the time in the world for flirting, affairs and even one-night stands, but claims she has absolutely no time for love. She has had a disturbing past that even her parents are not aware of. Jasmine dresses seductively, pouts with her sensuous lips, parties hard and has resolved to make her life as much fun as possible. Has she really gotten over Jerry Matthews, her first love? Is Jerry done with her? Will Jasmine's ways of living wildly have no consequences? Discover the journeys of these three beautiful ladies further in this unputdownable book.

Breath of Fresh Air

Polka Dots, Pony Tails and Purple Pouts(PDPTPP) ... a story of three froomies (friends-cum-roomies), is a beautifully written piece of modern pulp fiction. It has three rich colorful stories beautifully interwoven in the IT city Pune.

Lately we have been seeing a lot of yuppie love stories and the regular CB-genre books (Chetan-Bhagat-Genre), but PDPTPP has a fresh approach. It's a collection of experiences, conversations, outlooks, emotions, actions and has a strong storyline. The stories ...

An intereresting & engaging read

I just came across this book while browsing and owing to the great reviews ordered a copy. This book narrating the lives of 3 roomies cum friends is a well blend of humour, fun, wit and emotions. The narrative style is great and interesting. Amrita has good command over language and flow & this doesn't seem like her debut novel. The story is at a few places predictable and some portions ignored from being elaborated like the KHAPS to keep it simple and uncomplicated, but anyways its a great r...

What a pageturner!

I loved Polka Dots, Pony Tails and Purple Pouts. The story is so simply told and still such a pageturner. It's hard to believe that it is Amrita's debut novel. She has written like a pro. She has good command over the language and perfect understanding of the topic she has chosen. The story moves fast and Amrita does not delve in unnecessary details. The conversations, the e-mail exchanges are clever and very real! There is diversirty in the characters and the settings. The story seamlessly tra...

Such a fun read!

This book was a present from a friend of mine and I can easily say this was one of the best presents I ever received. I read it right-away...My mood was instantly uplifted and I was gleefully lost in the lives of Jasmine, Leena, Tia, Sam, Ravi, Jerry, Arnab, Kathy, Chris and many more vivid characters. I loved the way Workplace-romance was presented in the book and the puppy love of Jasmine back in her hometown...the transformation, the moment when reality hits - every bit captured my attenti...

Sparkling Debut! Giggles, Chuckles, Frowns and Meltdowns...A Wholesome Entertainer!

First things first. It's a great debut! Reminds one of Bridget Jones and The-devil-wears-prada stories. Of course, it's totally Indian..set in the urban and laid-back city of Pune.
At a few places, I found it to be pretty predictable like Tia and Samarth finally getting together despite all odds. Any takers in Bollywood, eh? But the journey is nevertheless interesting. The author has made the Khaap pretty easy-going in the end while that episode could have been more elaborate and fearsome. B...

Touched my heart and made me smile

I bought the book because I loved the title and the cover page and of course, the cost is also not high! I thought it would be a decent bargain. It was only after I began reading it, I realized that it was much more than just a 'decent bargain'. After I started it, I simply could not put it down till I had finished 12 Chapters. That too, because my baby woke up from his sleep at night and would not stop crying. Needless to say, I finished it the next day and it brought a big smile on my face....

Fresh writing

After years, I chanced upon such a fresh piece of writing by an Indie author. She takes her time to describe so many characters, the places, the circumstances, still the story moves at great pace. The way the chapters end...leave you wanting for more. Amrita has got the knack of keeping the interesting alive...I have a feeling this is going to be a Bestseller soon...Last time I had this feeling, was when I read 'The Immortals of Meluha'. Amrita and Amish are two Indie writers (in entirely dif...

Warm and Funny...with well-woven characters and situations

I found the book warm like cup of hot chocolate on a chilly winter day! It has serious elements as well as fun and wit...all so cleverly blended!
The characters and situations are well-woven and make it an overall interesting read.
I finished the book in two days flat and could not stop smiling with baby Michelle in the end.
Nice work!
