    • John J. Grainger is currently working as Electrical and Computer Engineer at North Carolina State University. He is a graduate of the National University of Ireland and received his M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. William D. Stevenson was a Professor and the Associate Head of the Electrical Engineering Department of North Carolina State University. He has served as a Consulting Editor in electrical power engineering for the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. He was the recipient of several teaching and professional awards.

    The only definitive book for Power System analysis. May seem difficult at first, but a little persistence leads to great concepts. Especially the problems at the back are simply great. For better conceptual understanding couple this book with Elgerd's "Electric Energy Systems Theory".
    No Indian author book comes even close to this epic text.

    best book for power system analysis

    without much doubts, u can say this is THE best book for power system analysis, given that you wish to study for knowledge and not for marks or solving numericals.
    The book presents the electrical systems in a story telling style with very standard use of signs and symbols which avoid confusions.
    topics are dealt in as much detail and as much short and crisp manner as possible depending on their importance and relevance.

    Good book but not enough and Not very lucid

    This book will invariably be compared to stevenson's original book. Concepts like direction of power flow, three phase system voltages have been elaborated. The new chapter on synchronous machine is useless, read a good machine book for that. Other chapters of state estimation and Zbus methods are standard.     The book for you if you want to study what Power System Analysis is.

    Starting from the very basics the book will teach you all what you wish to learn in PSA if you are a btech student. Its a well written book covering almost all the topics including the basic concepts of electric machines and circuits. Apart from the bookish knowledge it provides this is an epitome of general concepts and usage in electricity.
    Along with this book i would recommend you to go through the numerical problems given in C. L. Wadhwa also.
