The gameplay of Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 has been greatly refined from PES 2011. Areas like artificial intelligence, animation, speed and physics have been improved drastically. An enhanced Teammate Control system allows the user to control a secondary player during play, during a throw-in or at a set piece; this permits a more precise gameplay; there are assisted and manual versions of this feature for varying degrees of control and difficulty. Improved refereeing lets the advantage rule to be implemented fully. Furthermore, the gameplay has been given more fluidity; players have better response when handling the ball and goalkeepers give a more reliable performance. The enhanced A.I. (artificial intelligence) lets A.I. players take intelligent movement decisions and be more aware while defending.
