The Girl from Nongrim Hills: by Ankush Saikia, is the thrilling story of a guitarist, a beautiful woman and an arms deal gone all wrong.

    Summary of the Book

Bok is a guitar player in a Shillong band, who has a lot on his mind. Kitdor, his elder brother, has lost 50 lakh rupees on a trip to Nagaland, while buying arms for a group of militants. Novel on background of north easter India

This was the first time I read a novel on background of north eastern Indian states. It was a good change from usual metro and rural background of north or south Indian states. I did not know that Shillong is the rock capital of India.

Author has given a detailed description of Bok's travels on bike within Shillong, which road he took, which place he passed, which turn he took and so on. Initially you like it because you are acclimatizing with Shillong, but later on you don't appreciate the ...

A Compelling narrative that keeps you at the edge throughout

I always liked noir, but I always missed one thing from all those books - they were based either in New York or Mumbai. This book was set in a town where I grew up and can relate to the places and can visualize the scenes.

The cover has beautiful girl with an automatic pistol pointing at you that is enough to tempt you to buy the book.

The story is of a typical Shillong guy, Bok who is a guitarist in a band called The Wedding Band when he faces a murky situation and he tries to get out of ...

    A Brilliant, Captivating Read!!!

From the moment I saw the cover till I turned the last page, this noir thriller was simply un-put-down able! The author's lucid style of writing, impressive details of the locales/characters, and the good build up of the plot definitely proves to be very engrossing! Got me captivated till the end & loved every bit of the dark, grim-tone in the thriller! Worth a buy, for sure !

    Chills, thrills and nostalgia !

A crime thriller - suspense and action around the very places i grew up in ! I could visualize each place and the fast pace ensured I was hooked from the first page to the last. Kudos to Ankush for the engrossing narrative and for portraying Shillong for what she is !!! This book is definitely a must read.
