Description
This monograph is aimed at providing an overview of the key research findings related to a comprehensive research project focusing on the life of people with visual impairment and blindness in Sri Lanka, to the general readership. This World Bank-funded project was steered by a team of three Professors and several experts attached to the Business School of SLIIT-UNI (www.sliit.lk), the leading non-state university in Sri Lanka. Over 30 research articles have been published in reputed international and local journals and conferences, based on this research. Empowering people with visual impairment and blindness, socially, economically, and otherwise, is the overall theme behind this study. Given that the general public has a major role to play in matters related to empowering people with visual impairment and blindness, disseminating these research findings among the community, in general, is of crucial importance. Written in simpler language, going beyond the academic jargon and style, this collection of 13 essays covers diverse but closely relevant topics. Though this research focused on Sri Lanka, its applicability might not be country specific. Findings of this study would pave the way for realizing the Sustainability Development Goals of the United Nations.
