Protidan  (VCD Bengali)

This movie revolves around Gauri (Sharmila Tagore), Samir (Ranjit Mullik), Nemai (Victor Banerjee). Gauri a simple village girl falls in love with Samir who belongs to a rich family. He is to go aboad to read law. Before going he promises to marry Gauri after his return. In the meanwhile Nimai sees this relationship and starts harassing Gauri. In the absence of Samir he tries to rape her. Gauri's father suddenly dies. Gauri becomes alone in the world and she goes to Samir's mother who refuses to accept her. Gauri kills one of Nimai's friends when he tries to molest her. She soon discovers that she is pregnant. She takes help from Janki-bai. Gauri gives birth to a girl. Janki-bai has a son Bakshi who had left her in his childhood when he had come to know that his mother was in the flesh trade and he has become a decoit. She asks Gauri to make her son understand the circumstances under which she has taken up this profession. One day she too dies. Gauri is alone once more. She takes up Janki-bai's profession. Nimai one day comes to Gauri & blackmails her. Samir comes back after becoming a lawyer and discovers Gauri. On the otherside Bakshi transforms into a good human being under the guidance of Gauri. Gauri gets her family and love back.
