Prithvi Vallabh is "the most typical" of Munshiji's historical romances. It was picturised on the silent screen and again as a talkie which became one of the Minerva Movietone's biggest hits and one of the Indian screen's great masterpieces. The novel 'Prithvi Vallabh' is based on the few surviving scenes of a twelth century Gujarati historical romance in verse called Munjarasa, and on Munjaprabandha, a section of a well-known fourteenth century work Prabhandhachintamani.
