Summary Of The Book
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test that tackles quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. It follows the multiple choice question format and the final results are decided on the basis of percentiles, which are derived from scaled scores as matched against the overall score in the test. A candidate needs to be quick at understanding and answering the questions in order to score maximum marks. Securing a high rank in this test will ensure a seat in one of the illustrious IIMs and other Business Schools.
This guidebook developed by Rajesh Balasubramanian contains all relevant concepts and topics integral to the purview of the CAT and each chapter tackles theory and then moves onto solved questions, exercise questions and finally the important CAT questions. The subject matter tackled in this book are Averages, Profit and Loss, Percentages, Linear and Quadratic equations, Ratios, Mixtures, Speed, Time and Distance, Progressions, Simple Interest, Inequalities, Probability, Trigonometry, Geometry and Compound Interest among many other topics.
Quantitative Aptitude For The CAT Common Admission Test contains twenty-seven chapters developed by Balasubramanian. Another plus to the book is the definitive solutions that are detailed and comprehensive in nature as they tackle the entire gamut of problems so presented across the book. The end of each chapter features CAT questions that are graded across both Level 1 and Level 2 of the examination. Balasubramanian is even persistent in further embellishing the book by including original CAT QT questions from 2006 to 2008 with their respective solutions and also developing mock CAT papers in the same format. These include solutions for two of the three Mock papers developed by the author.
