  • Description

Quantum Physics of Atoms Molecules Solids Nuclei And Particles focuses on explaining the properties of the important quantum systems. It covers just as much of the theory and maths as needed to understand these properties of the quantum system.

The book takes a practical, illustrative approach rather than an abstract, mathematical treatment of the concepts that govern quantum systems. As the authors themselves say in the preface, they focus more on the applications of the theory rather than on the theory itself. The book explains the concepts through the many experiments that were conducted to prove them, and through descriptions of natural phenomena that demonstrates them. The authors express the hope that once the student understands how quantum physics actually works in the real world they would be motivated to go deeper into the theory.

Quantum theory developed gradually out of investigations into some puzzling behavior of matter at its most basic level, at the levels of atoms and particles. These puzzles could not properly be explained by the theories of classical physics.

Each quantum theory was developed after thoroughly investigating natural phenomena and conducting experiments in the lab to see how it worked. The book follows this development arc closely, explaining the history of quantum physics.

It details the experiments conducted by scientists who came up with the fundamentals theories of quantum mechanics. They explain how the natural world is governed by these theories at the smallest levels. and they explain the practical applications of these theories. The book has detailed coverage of the Mossbauer effect, electron-positron annihilation in solids and new material on particle physics. This edition of Quantum Physics of Atoms Molecules Solids Nuclei and Particles has nineteen appendix sections that provide further material on the subject of quantum physics and related theories.

    Informative but not easy going

the book is awesome and covers maximum topics realted to quantu physics.
It provides a lot of information but the thing that is missing..is the basic information or basic knowledge. The basic derivations of some relations are not explained. But however for gathering knowledge and having a grip over this topic, the book is amust choice.

    Eisberg Resnick Quantum Physics(great!)

A great book! It was a joy to read the material present in this book. It tackles the problem of teaching quantum physics in a great manner. The topics are presented in accordance with the history and origin of quantum physics, chapters cover the philosophical implications of quantum physics. The examples covered in the chapters are really great and are a must to go through!!
The appendices are very informative and are a support system for the reader. Previous experience with differential equa...
