Ravanayan (Issue 2), the second part of the Ravanayan comic book series, furthers the story of Ravan, as he sets out on a quest to make his mark in the world.
Summary Of The Book
Ravanayan (Issue 2) is the second issue in the Ravanayan series, a ten-part comic book series based on the life of Ravana, the antagonist in the Hindu epic of The Ramayana.
Through a mythological retelling, the series brings to life an epic war fought in ancient India, a war between dharma and adharma. It was a war that encompassed all the three worlds and heralded a new era where goodness ruled over evil. The stories of the war were re-told numerous times over the centuries and the victors were praised for their greatness. This epic war was fought between Rama, the king of Ayodhya and Ravana, the king of Lanka. The narrative is presented from the perspective of Ravana.
In Issue 2, the creators depict a young Ravana as he makes some serious efforts to make a place for himself in the world. At this point, he is a long way off from his subsequent quest for world domination, a quest that ended with his crushing defeat at the hands of Rama.
While the creators have stayed true to the essence of the original epic, they have also added imaginative re-interpretations of the characters.
Ravanayan (Issue 2) was published in 2011 by Holy Cow Entertainment. It has received positive reviews for its portrayal of Ravana, with its fresh storytelling and beautiful illustrations to match.
