Description

Ravanayan (Issue 2), the second part of the Ravanayan comic book series, furthers the story of Ravan, as he sets out on a quest to make his mark in the world.

Summary Of The Book

Ravanayan (Issue 2) is the second issue in the Ravanayan series, a ten-part comic book series based on the life of Ravana, the antagonist in the Hindu epic of The Ramayana.

Through a mythological retelling, the series brings to life an epic war fought in ancient India, a war between dharma and adharma. It was a war that encompassed all the three worlds and heralded a new era where goodness ruled over evil. The stories of the war were re-told numerous times over the centuries and the victors were praised for their greatness. This epic war was fought between Rama, the king of Ayodhya and Ravana, the king of Lanka. The narrative is presented from the perspective of Ravana.

In Issue 2, the creators depict a young Ravana as he makes some serious efforts to make a place for himself in the world. At this point, he is a long way off from his subsequent quest for world domination, a quest that ended with his crushing defeat at the hands of Rama.

While the creators have stayed true to the essence of the original epic, they have also added imaginative re-interpretations of the characters.
Ravanayan (Issue 2) was published in 2011 by Holy Cow Entertainment. It has received positive reviews for its portrayal of Ravana, with its fresh storytelling and beautiful illustrations to match.

Ravanayan Issue 02 Review

Patience pays, i guess. When I finally read the book, I could only marvel at the genius of it's creators. Two things struck me: the very human portrayal of Ravan, which we were long taught to be the ultimate raksasha... to see him that way was a rather pleasant change. The issue 2 promises that we will be an audience to the triumphs and travails of Ravan.

Also, to see Brahma as a cosmic, timeless entity as "it" should be was refreshing. Kudos to the team to do away with the traditional look....

Ravanayana - An Insult to the Legend who was Ravana

Not to discourage these kind of comics but.... the comic "Ravana: Roar of the Demon King" is WAAAYYYYY BETTER than these set of comics....

Why? You think I dont know how to evaluate a comic? Or the Art work? Or the content?

I have any only two topics, on the basis of which I am writing this review. 1. Story 2. Artwork

1. Story: Here, Ravana, actually Dasananda, "decides", upon the request of Brahma, to walk along the path of evil, COMPLETELY surrendering himself to the path of Fate..... Fr...

PERFECTION(ist)

As expected issue 2 is much better than issue 1 in both print quality and matter as well.
Looking at Raavan from a different perspective is outstanding.

Ofcourse You need to have a abit of prior knowledge of him and Ramayan to thouroughly understand the depiction in concised volume(s) .

If Flipkart had 6 stars, would have given it, as i gave 5 to Issue one as well and Issue 2 is much better .

Brilliant!

The narration and the illustrations are perfect. As the reviewer above has said, seeing Raavan in a different light is indeed refreshing. Especially, when comparing with the qualities of his siblings. Looking forward to future issues.

The print quality has improved a lot compared to issue 01. It now looks near perfect. Only concern, please keep the sizes of the issue same. The issue 1 is a bit larger than issue 2.
