    Description
You are a potter. I am a potter. We are all potters. The life we have got is the clay. We are all potters, building our lives, building the early life of our children. There are rules, thousands of them, to build this life, to make it perfect. They form the potter's wheel. But, just as you would be more comfortable shaping your own pot with your own hands and keep the wheel aside, you would likewise love to shape your life or your child's life with your experiences, your thoughts that visit you, your intuition and the mix of delightful as well as not-so-delightful stories and thoughts and experiences shared by fellow-potter's because these together are your hands. In this journey of life, we pass through rays and rains - the happy and not-so-happy experiences - some experiences with near and dear ones and some with acquaintances and some experiences that are not ours but as real as ours, because they are experiences of people, as real as us, though not known to us. And as we keep building the pot, we exchange our thoughts with people who too are shaping their pots with their hands. These are thoughts about us and also about our children, about what we see and what we hear and what we feel about ourselves as we move from being people to being parents, from being not-perfect to being trying-to-be-perfect for the sake of the children and finally to being just ourselves.

    Rays and Rains

It was only recently that I got a chance to read this book and I could not keep it down till I finished it. As a parent I could relate to her experiences and I loved the beautiful and lucid way it has been put forth. I would recommend this book to every parent who can understand the frustrations that we go through and the questions that arise in our minds about our own abilities to bring up a child successfully. We are not alone people! This book is definitely worth a read.

    Rays and Rains

You cannot leave the book midway, I could relate to the diary as it brought back a flood of memories of the days when I struggled to juggle work and life, the children were very young then and my IT job a demanding one.

    Pot and the potter

Read Rays and Rains written by Aparajita Bose.It is about the journey of life which emotionally connects the child and the parent. The anecdotes ,analysis ,reaction of the child and handling of the situation by the parents are simply amazing. The book made me think though I have crossed that stage of parenting long back. The author did mention that the parents are the potters and stressed upon the most important aspect that the pots as always should be handled with care.Good she did not confine...

A Review of ‘Rays and Rains’ by ParentEdge editor Kritika Srinivasan

Aparajita Bose was one of ParentEdge’s earliest bloggers and contributed some lovely pieces on parenting—simple, everyday musings, her observations, lessons learnt on her journey as a parent. And now, she has taken all these blogs and many more and compiled them into a book – ‘Rays and Rains.’

The title says it all, for the blogs in this book talk about a whole range of aspects related to parenting—both the joyful, heart-squeezes-with-love moments when we cannot remember what life was like b...

    Lovely read

A lovely book depicting a mother's experiences and genuine feelings bringing up her children. The language is articulate with a beautiful sense of humour. A must read for modern day working moms.
