  • Description
REMINISCENCES OF A STOCK OPERATOR:- is a novel about real-life events that is veraciously fictionalized. Written by American author Edwin Lefèvre in 1923, just years before the Great Depression of 1929, it is one of the most widely read and highly recommended investment books. Inspired by the life of stock trader Jesse Livermore who made and lost fortunes many times over in his career, the book is told in the first person account. Over the decades since its publication, a good deal of market investors in the capital market has been referencing the book as a major source on stock trading. Fortune, the prestigious American multinational business magazine, has listed it among “The Smartest Books We Know” about business. In the concluding chapter of the book after delving deeply the journey of Livermore, Edwin Lefèvre, however, writes,” The experience of years as a stock operator has convinced me that no man can consistently and continuously beat the stock market though he may make money in individual stocks on certain occasions.”

    • An American journalist, writer, and diplomat, Edwin Lefèvre (1871–1943) was globally acknowledged for his seminal works on the Wall Street business. He began his career as a journalist but eventually became a stockbroker. Lefèvre also worked as a broker on Wall Street. However, following his father’s death, Edwin Lefèvre inherited some wealth and became an independent investor. It was in the year of 1901 that a collection of Lefèvre's short stories under the title, Wall Street Stories was published. Soon after, several of his novels about money and finance were published. In 1925, Lefèvre authored another book about a stock trader, a factual biography with titled as The Making of a Stockbroker. Of the eight books Edwin Lefèvre wrote, many consider his Reminiscences of a Stock Operator a classic of American business writing.

The book was first published in 1923, just years before the great depression of 1929. The book is ancient, but it yet remains most relevant today if you want to understand how the stock market functions. Just wow!

one of the wonderful book i have ever read. The book doesn't teach you about which stocks to buy and which to sell . The book is about one of the great person jesse livermore it tells you what all problems he faced in his trading life and how he managed to solve it by himself. Give it a read once in a few months and your sentiment will improve towards the market. The paper quality of the book is not that good comparing to the other book by wiley.
