Long but worth it...

This novel is not just a novel but a peck at various aspects of human life. Yes, it throws more light on the American systems and African practices but the fragrance which it tries to emanate can be found across most of our own cultures irrespective of any continent.
The sheer practice of narrating the chronology of the lineage to every kid born in the family probably hints at the author’s deep standing wish of imparting a reason for survival of the species and extension of the family. The tu...

This book was amazing.Beautifully detailed with african languaphone. If you want to know more about blacks in america and their life and coming generation it is very good.Even if you are not interested in these things it makes for a good read.It is very long and will keep you engrossed for a month or two.

Good book, bad print

An amazing book, and a must read. Good price too, but found the print not up-to the mark, the font is far to small to be comfortable for a book of this size. I suppose its a compromise for the price.
I would suggest the more expensive international version if you wish to add this to your personal library.

"..an act of love which makes it haunting.."

My heart was touched and I was moved to tears I read the story of a relatable Kunta, a young boy, who was later sold into slavery. It truly is an insight into history. A cruel past that shouldn't be forgotten.

Fantastic piece of research

When going through the book many a occasion I wept. After reading the book I can smile at any white skinned people when they talk about human rights. Before reading this book I thought Linguistics is an useless subject. But this book gave an U turn in my opinion. When the author met the people of his ancestral village he felt ashame of his less black complexion. Really touching moment.
