I'd recommend that you go through Alex Rider books before reading this because then you will be able to understand the character (Yassen Gregorovich) better. Although it can be read without reading the series too, since it is kind of like a Prequel, and does not mention Alex Rider anywhere..

Anthony Horowitz is my favorite writer..

A very good end to a very good series, however this book is not about Alex Rider but about Yassen. I do not recommend reading this book before you have read the other 9. Anthony Horowitz is at his usual best here.

This is an excellent, breezy teen thriller. It's about the growth and development of an assassin in Russia who later confronts Alex rider.

There are some great set pieces in the book. What's delightful about the story is it's compassionate portrayal of the killer in training. He doesn't want to be one, but circumstances compel him to do so....
