75 million years ago, there really were sea monsters, and the Elasmosaurus from was one of them. Known for having an extremely long neck, the first paleontologists thought its neck was a tail, which propelled it through the water. The Elasmosaurus grew up to 50 feet in length. It probably lived in the open seas, where it gave birth to live young.
