The charger only works with PS3 USB ports ... There is no provision of plugging it with external source of power ............

Excellent. Does what it should.
I have 5 PS3 Controllers and charging all of them uses up all 4 ports of my laptop. This device fit the need and the budget perfectly.
The Controllers fit neatly and a 'chinese' type light, lights up at the bottom illuminating the unit. (Just eye candy).
It charges two controllers at a time and does it perfectly.
