Prof. Panmana Ramachandran Nair (1931-2018) was born on 13 August 1931 in Panmana, Kollam district. Father: N. Kunjunair. Mother: N. Lakshmikkuttyamma. 'Shastri' in Sanskrit and B.Sc in Physics. He passed his M.A. in Malayalam from University College, Thiruvananthapuram with first rank (1957) and won the Dr. Godavarma Memorial Prize. He worked for two years in Malayalam Lexicon. He then taught at Palakkad, Chittoor, Thalassery and Thiruvananthapuram Govt. Colleges. He retired from service in 1987 while serving as the Head of the Malayalam Department at University College. He was a member of the committees of Kerala Granthasala Sangham, Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Kerala Kalamandalam, Sahitya Akhara Sahakarana Sangham and the Senate of Kerala University. Died on June 5, 2018. Wife: K.N. Gomathiamma.
