The MV800 from Samsung is a highly advanced and capable digital point and shoot camera, that comes packed with a wide variety of special features and functions. The MV800 makes use of a Schneider Kreuznach optical lens that has 5x optical zoom along with an additional 5x of digital zoom that gives you a considerable level of magnification. It also has an operational focal length of 4.7 mm - 23.5 mm and a 35 mm equivalent to 26 mm - 130 mm. Operating a CCD image sensor, this Samsung digital camera allows you to capture images at an incredible 16.15 megapixel resolution and is capable of recording video in 720p at 30 fps.
Sporting a very sophisticated new age body design and weighing about 130 g, the Samsung MV800 is as stylish as it is compact. The MV800 has a 3-inch smart touch screen that occupies almost the entirety of the camera’s rear plate. The top of the camera features the shutter release button that is located on the inside of the zoom control ring along with the main power control button.
One of the unique features of the Samsung MV800 is the advent of a highly sophisticated 3 inch flip-out TFT LDC display with a resolution of 288,000 dot pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. The tilt-up option gives the screen an unprecedented 180 degrees of tilt, making almost any shooting angle possible.
Battery and Storage
The base of the camera houses the camera’s power source in the form of a BP-70A rechargeable battery that uses a 5V DC power input. Also present is the memory card slot which is compatible with SD and SDHC memory cards.
The recorded files on the memory card can easily be transferred onto a PC or a laptop using the high-speed USB port or a memory card reader. This camera to PC connection is extremely easy as the MV800 is both Windows and MAC OS compatible. The presence of an HDMI port along with an analog video out, lets you enjoy all your images and videos on a standard definition or a high definition TV.
The aperture control lets you adjust the amount of light that passes through the lens of the camera. The aperture control on this Samsung compact camera has a range of f/3.3 - f/5.9. It also features TTL or through the lens auto focus that ranges from 80 cm (Wide) and 150 cm (Tele) to infinity in the normal mode along with 5 cm to 80 cm (Wide) and 100 cm to 150 cm (Tele) while in Macro mode.
The light sensitivity of this camera ranges from ISO 100 to 3200, letting you take clear images even in low light situations. The camera also features a wide range of adjustable shutter speeds to helps you achieve your desired result. The shutter speed on the MV800 ranges from a maximum 1/2000 sec to a minimum of 8 sec. A built-in flash with a range of 0.2 m - 3.2 m (Wide) and 0.5 m – 1.8 m (Tele), allows you to light up every corner of your desired frame.
This Samsung MV800 features the smart auto setting which has a range of automatic shooting modes that can be used to suit very specific conditions or situations. This includes the likes of 3D Photo, Live Panorama, Self Shot, Picture in Picture and more. The camera also has a built-in mono microphone that allows for recording clear sound quality along with video.
The MV800 uses Dual Image Stabilization, which employs both digital and optical stabilization techniques to counter any camera shake or eliminate the blurring of the captured images or video. The list of extra features goes on with the inclusion of Pictbridge, Self timer, Red eye reduction, Face detection and more.
The PictBridge technology allows you to connect the camera directly to a printer without a PC, enabling easy direct photo printing. The self-timer function lets you delay the shutter release by 2 or 10 seconds, so that you can join your friends and other loved ones in every image. The face detection technology lets the camera determines the locations and sizes of human faces within the frame so it can prioritise the focus and clarity of the facial gestures rather than arbitrary elements like trees or buildings.
