The popular styles of this regions include Tant, Murshidabad silk, Baluchari, Dhaniakhali cotton, Kaantha, Rajshahi silk, Pasapali, Sambalpuri silk and cotton, Khandua and Bomkai silk and cotton, and Manipuri.


    Western Styles
    The styles that originate from the western region of India are very popular. They include the Paithani and Lugadia styles from Maharashtra. The Paithani are woven by hand. They’re considered to be one of the finest ones in India. Lugadia are also known as Khaastha. They are usually tucked at the back. It’s also called Nauvari which means sine yards. Other famous ones from the west are Patola, Bagru, Kota Doria, and Bandhani.


    Southern Styles
    All the states in South India have their own flagshp style. The most famous styles in Tamil Nadu are the Kancheepuram and Coimbatore cotton. Kancheepuram silk are recognised all over India. 
    According to Hindu mythology, Kancheepuram weavers were believed to be the descendants of sage Markanda, the weaver for the Gods. Karnataka contributes to 70% of the silk produced all over India. The styles from Karnataka include Mysore silk, Molakalmuru and Sulebhavi. Balaramapuram and Mundum Neriyathum are famous styles from Kerala. From Andhra Pradesh and Telangana comes the beautiful Pochampalli, Venkatagiri, Gadwal, and Mangalagiri.
