Directed by John Lee Hancock, Saving Mr. Banks is a biographical comedy-drama film that stars 4-time Golden Globe Award-winner Tom Hanks of Forrest Gump fame, 2-time Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson (played a leading role in Stranger than Fiction), Paul Giamatti and Jason Schwartzman. Inspired by a true story, the plot of this enchanting tale follows Walt Disney who makes a sincere promise to his daughters. In order to keep his promise, Walt has to convince P. L. Travers to give him the rights to make a movie based on her book, Mary Poppins. Saving Mr. Banks was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award too.
