The Science Of Getting Rich is based on a Hindu philosophy that states “One is all, and that all is One”. The aim of Wattles’ text is to promote a specific way of thinking which will attract success. Wattles developed a technique called “thinking in a certain way”. According to the author, this type of thinking puts the mind in a positive state which leads to self affirmations.

In order to achieve personal and financial freedom, Wattles prescribed practical approaches which were to be followed in a stepwise manner. The author maintained that readers should not chase their wants. Instead, people ought to focus on feeling gratitude. About Wallace D. Wattles

Wallace D. Wattles was a bestselling author, who hailed from Illinois.

Wattles also authored Making of the Man Who Can, The Science of Being Great, Health Through New Thought and Fasting, and Jesus: The Man and His Work.

Wattles had very little formal education. He was employed as a farm hand. After meeting George Davis Herron, a preacher of Christian Socialism, Wattles became a social visionary. He ran for public office as a Socialist, but lost both times. Wattles was also a part of the New Thought movement. Through his books, he encouraged readers to follow his theories based on the premise that he had tested them himself. Wattles was married to Abbie Walters, and together they had three children. Wattles died on February 7, 1911.
