Science series has been designed and created around the S.T.E.M. initiatives, with each activity having its own online video that asks open-ended questions in an effort to help promote critical thinking and exploration. Based on the original classic device by Rene Descartes called a Cartesian Diver, the Bottle Bots are a more modern and cost-effective way to do experiments about air and water pressure. The original Cartesian Divers were hand-crafted from glass medicine droppers or ampules. The ones in this kit are created using a simple disposable plastic pipette and a hex nut. The kit contains almost everything you need to get started right out of the box, including red and blue plastic coated wire, 2x 500ml plastic bottles and caps, 1 diving lure, 4 plastic pipettes and 4 hex nuts. The only things that you need are water, scissors, empty soda bottles to scale up the size of the experiment, and maybe a little bit of hot glue to seal the end of the pipettes once you've managed to find the right water level in your Bottle Bots.
