    An enjoyable read

It is not every other day that I sit late at night reading a novel. As distracted as I am, I prefer reading books in installments. But Amish's Scion of Ikshvaku (Book 1 of the Ram Chandra Series) was an exception.

The first thought on reading the initial pages was the similarity in writing style to the Shiva Trilogy. Amish is one of my favourite Indian authors for two reasons:- The theme, which is always based on ancient Indian history (I deliberately avoid the term "mythology" because I do ...

    Power packed beginning

The first book was really something with amish in his old narrative style.
The only cons I found are:
    1) Couple of spelling mistakes in the first few chapters.
    2) Use of very modern languages like touche and some others.

Apart from the cons it is a very good book and is almost like a film going on. Very much recommended to all who wants to read the old mythological stories with new interpretation and in the mean time have the same thrill as we are used to from amish.
    Will be waiting for it...

Scion Of Ikshvaku - A Review [Good and Not so Good]

My first reaction: Did I just re-read Immortals of Meluha with new characters?

    GOOD PARTS:
Amish attempted to show that Gods are mere mortals who ascended the pedestal of human reverence for their virtues.

Gods are not above flaws, but they restrict their flaws.

Gods too have humour, frustrations and anger. Gods seem to realize the fine line between valour and craziness/stupidity.

Amish made mythology interesting to read albeit through a very different view point.

    He made references to...

    confused author Below average..........

It looks like Amish is confused writing the novel and sometimes while reading things seem to happen in present time like, " I love my India.", "Police." etc. Also he mixed fiction with mythology even mixed Mahabharat with Ramayana only characters are from Ramayan and everything else is pure fiction. If you want to write fiction then write fiction and do justice and if you want to write mythology write after proper research. For the sake of logic facts have been distorted badly. Its not recomm...

    Great potential unrealized

?To the read??er, the key USP of a fantasy book is to be able to visualize the author's word painting. As an author you get unbridled freedom to paint a landscape that is beyond even the wildest possible dreams. The promise of a trip to one's own wonderland is what makes people like me a sucker for fantasy genre.
Amish Tripathy found the success formula in rewriting Indian mythology using a completely different set of ingredients. Humaneness, rationale, logic and a healthy dose of masala. Tha...

A amazing beginning to a long awaited series by AMISH. Continue to love reading a different perspective of all those stories our grand mothers told us. Finished the book with the first two days!!

    Classy product

it's a great blend of politics and adventure. The story is a prequel to the shiva trilogy. Liked the way the story was narrated. It is another great story by Amish.
