this drive collapsed within couple of months of use
I had very good respect for seagate products.
I use 500 gb hard drive - go flex and also thunderbolt adapter for mac from seagate for good time now and both are giving no problems.
there seems to be some issue with 1 tb drive .
My internal one has gone within few months of purchase.
I had updated the firmware.

!!! Attention !!!
I brought this drive in March and now after 5 months I have to suffer a hard disk failure, I mean it literally failed in 5 months, where as my 80GB Hitachi which is 5 and a half years old is still going strong, what's wrong with seagate, I agree with Atul, as this is happening world wide so to those who want to buy this hard disk I would like to say " Buy At Your Own Risk ", if you are prepared for wasting your time, data and energy when it goes off, then it's your wish, what can I do, I bro...

Reliability issue
Performance wise, I have no complain, this disc really works good, excellent speed and performance however I have been facing many issue with Seagate products with reliability issue.
No Bad Sectors but discs are losing data and failures are also becoming common issue with them.
Internet is full of bad comments with too many disc failure and I would also add to it.. Indeed they go on to replace it under warranty to losing all those pictures and data is just not acceptable !!

Hard Drive Crash!
I bought this drive a month ago,which was my biggest mistake.MY DRIVE CRASHED!
The Hard drive used to make clicking sound and reboots to always go to the boot screen and the PC refused to start.This was not expected from Seagate which has been a very popular company in this segment.I am extremely unhappy with the product.Please be wary of this product!!

DO NOT WASTE MONEY
Very annoying and pathetic product of seagate. Drive have this problem of disappearing all the time. Updated firmware still no resolution. Only solution is to restart PC.

Great HDD
Installed without any trouble, was auto detected and works great.
I think the people who are facing problems like having only 128GB getting detected are not taking precautions against static charges while handling the hardware.

Good HDD at an affordable price
I am using this in a RAID configuration with a WD Blue 1TB. I use these two HDDs to store my games, movies and files as I use a SSD for my OS. So far, both of these dives offer super speed with Write Speeds touching 200 MB/s. The response time is 10ms, normal for a HDD but if you use this as a storage drive and not as OS drive, you won't notice it since the speeds are very good. As for reliability, it has been used for six months and no problems as of now.

There is a known issue with Seagate's 1TB (as well as 1.5TB) desktop HDDs. A lot of them randomly develop problems over time, such as making clicking noises, with the main header suffering from mechanical failure. Mine started going to hell after a month of buying it. This HDD was delevered 2 me on Tue 24th June 2014 by Flipkart.
i Own a Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD and its working jus fine for the past 6 years now.
frankly speaking i dont know why people write such bad comments about seagate.
This 1tb HDD gives me 950GB+ usable data.
I have made 4 partitions of the drive and each secondary partition makes a 100mb extra non usabe partition.
I think its for the recovery, atleast thats what it says!
so all in all i get 950GB+ usable space.
