Performance Crown for Mechanical Hard Drives
I have been using WD Caviar Black 2TB since Oct 2010 as a boot drive, but the Seagate 3TB simply exceeds the 2TB performance by at least 10-15%. Max read speeds approach 200 MB/s compared with 150 MB/s.
So if you have a UEFI BIOS and windows 7 x64 which supports booting from > 2.2TB drive, this may be the fastest mechanical drive to be used as a boot device. SSDs are a different matter altogether.

Decent storage drive
As long as you don't plan on installing Windows on a 3 Tb drive, this is a very good choice. If you do wish to install windows on this drive, you need uefi bios + 64 bit Win 7 plus other setup. This drive is cost effective than getting lower capacity drives and are cheaper than the upcoming 4 Tb drives. Recommended for digital artists, photographers, video editors etc.

Super Duper Spacey Drive.... Great Performance
If you are requiring a drive for storing your data, this is the best and cheapest option. Huge applause for Seagate for making a value for money drive giving great Read, Write speed at minimal prices. Also if your looking for superfast data transfer data rates. then this drive is not for you. This is an energy efficient drive running at 5900 RPM with data rates to around 60-70 MBps. Overall I am very much happy and glad to have it. Must buy for storage freaks.

I bought 4 drives to be used with my Netgear NAS. 2 Drives came with many bad sectors and faulty controller. Now after 9 months I have all 4 drives full with bad sectors and my NAS failed due to this.
I won't suggest anyone to go for this as failure ratio is very high.

I bought this product 2 years ago and it has failed now. This 3 Tb hard disk is a disaster due to it's high failure rate. In a survey it was found that as much as 42% of this hard disk failed in single year. It's 1 year warranty is ridicules and does not help when it fails, fortunately I was able to recover most of my data, but you may not. I give 2 out of 5. Hard disk behave good till some time. It become problematic after some use (after 2400-2500 hours). all hdd are unreliable today.
