failed with my 500GB of data in it in-just 3 months

failed with my 500GB of data in it in-just 3 months. do not buy this waste product. I am having 160GB seagate drive from 2006 and still it works fine, no problem. but this shit hard disk failed within 3 months that too with my 500GB of data. most of the recovery centres are asking 1000rs per 10GB of data recovery. I lost my priceless photos, valuable passwords, games and softwares and movies..........everything was lost. It happened without any warning. DO NOT BUY THIS SHIT HARD DISK. If you ...

1 year warranty!! Are you kidding me?

Pathetic. These drives are failing massively. No reliability at all. The higher the capacity the more the chances of the drive failing. And with one year warranty you'll not just lose the hard drive but 3 TB of your data as well.

Biggest face palm moment in the history of hard drives.

    Get a WD 3TB - Cheaper + 2 yr. warranty

I'm already using one WD Caviar Green 3TB and performance has been satisfactory. I was looking at buying another couple of 3 TB drives to archive data/NAS. Saw this having a one year warranty (LoL) and moved on to the WD Caviar Green 3TB's.

Not only are they cheaper but give you a 2 year warranty.

They maybe a little slower but I'm not trusting 3 TB of my data to a HDD with just 1 year warranty. It is like shooting yourself in the foot.

Be smart - vote with your money.

Hard disk crashed in less than a year!

Although this HD is super-fast, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP.

I lost my irreplaceable photo collection a week back when this hard disk crashed. A warranty wont bring me back my data!! Been just 10 months since I ordered this Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HD. I have used Seagate HDs in the past and have had my fair share of crashes, but this was the most unexpected as it happened so soon after the purchase.

Once again... just make sure you always have a backup of your data no matter which brand you ...

    Crashed withing ONE YEAR, Unreliable!

I have HDs which are 8-9 years old & working fine.

After 9 month this HD crashed. Its head got damaged. Unfortunately I didn't backup many of the folders, and now I am paying for it.

Friends, I would really advice to not go for larger capacity drives as therez a greater risk of loosing much of your data. Its a costlier affair to have multiple 500GB HDs, but its better than paying the Data Recovery people thousands of rupees.

Barracuda 3000........ Huge space with good performance......

Hi guys, I am using this hardisk from past one and a half month. I purchased this drive to replace my old WD 1 TB Green, 640 GB blue, 500 GB Blue and Barracuda 500 GB.

This drive gave me more performance and stability than what I have expected.

I am getting a avg write speed of 140 MB/s and read speed of 150 MB/s.

This drive won't take much time to spin up from idle state.

    Very good performer.

I am using this drive only for data storage, I have not installed any OS.

    Good Drive | Pathetic Warranty

    Performance wise it's good Drive.
1 YR Warranty for HDD (very bad)
My experience is quite bad with seagate(i'm native WD lover :P) although I could buy it @ 10,000 if they're going to give at least 3 YR warranty.

Performance Crown for Mechanical Hard Drives

I have been using WD Caviar Black 2TB since Oct 2010 as a boot drive, but the Seagate 3TB simply exceeds the 2TB performance by at least 10-15%. Max read speeds approach 200 MB/s compared with 150 MB/s.

So if you have a UEFI BIOS and windows 7 x64 which supports booting from > 2.2TB drive, this may be the fastest mechanical drive to be used as a boot device. SSDs are a different matter altogether.

As I have a SSD as a boot device, I am using it as a storage device for some backups which req...

    Decent storage drive

As long as you don't plan on installing Windows on a 3 Tb drive, this is a very good choice. If you do wish to install windows on this drive, you need uefi bios + 64 bit Win 7 plus other setup. This drive is cost effective than getting lower capacity drives and are cheaper than the upcoming 4 Tb drives. Recommended for digital artists, photographers, video editors etc.
