My view about the novel- The Second Choice

This is a simple story with a blend of predictable and unpredictable turns those come along the life of the lead character Pavithra. It focuses on various subtle issues of second marriage. The step mother and step daughter relation , husband-wife relation in the novel are carefully and naturally handled by the author. The characters leave an impact for long time. The beauty of the story is everybody in the story is right in their place. But because of small ego problem, misconception, misl...

A complex emotional tale, narrated in simple words

I really liked the manner in which the author, Lakshmi Menon dealt with the complexities of a second marriage. The main characters in the book, Pavithra and Venu agree to marry, hoping that their daughters (each of them have a daughter from a previous marriage) will find a loving mother and father. They decide to keep this a platonic marriage as they are unable to forget their past happily married lives. Venu's wife is an invalid and it is at her insistence that he is getting married again, w...

THE SECOND CHOICE - A SAGA OF LOVE AND SACRIFICE

The Second Choice is the story of Pavithra and Venu, bound by a marriage of convenience which with time blossoms into a beautiful relationship of love and trust. A fast paced novel, written in simple language, it speaks of marital versus societal pressures and the ultimate, supreme sacrifice that sublimates human relationship. The writer, Lakshmi Menon, flaunts a rare cinematic style of storytelling.

The Second Choice: Beautifully crafted story

This book is beautifully written and the story which keeps the reader emotionally rooted to the story of two people coming together to start a new life for reasons of their daughters happiness is very compelling. The different characters in the book as it takes shape shows a lot about our Indian women's outlook and way of thoughts of life. The character of Pavithra is strong and her outlook and her ability to be patient and affectionate at all times and her character touched me to the core....

My take on "The Second Choice"

The book stands apart, not only in its simplicity but in the manner it was presented – predictable and yet with a lesson or two if a reader needs to carry home as a key takeaway.

Soumya's character, subtle throughout and yet left a lasting impact.

    A simple story well told

The Second Choice is a drama based on a Second marriage between a divorced man and a widow. They each have a daughter. I found myself flipping through the pages as the story progresses. It's simple yet the story is awesome. As the protagonist, Pavithra, struggles thru all the highs and lows of her conveniently arranged marriage, the reader will find that there's so much more to look forward to this seemingly simple story.
