I love this book. For it doesn't talk about Shiva the god. instead it focuses on Shiva the philosophy. the symbol
I particularly loved the section where Devdutt Pattanaik explains the difference between Shiv and Shankar, Sati and Parvati.
I would recommend not reading it as a novel. instead read and think over, the ideas. try and apply it in real life to real situations and people, that's when you will love this book

Read Dr. Pattanaik's few books earlier and this one too is one of his best writings. The new channel Life Ok is airing a serial on Lord Shiva " MAHADEV" and the producers give due credits to Dr Pattanaik's writings for being the inspiration of the serial. Even if the stories are not true, they give you a good point of view to look at things. A must-read for all Shiva Lovers.
Presented in a very precise manner, the book is attractive through words and illustrations. The fact that images are taken from the actual carvings in India, will grip you more to the book

The book is very well-written. Crisp in it's message and the ideology is well narrated.
The philosophy of Shiva may not be completely practical in our life, but reading this book will change you in more ways than one.
I recommend 7 Secrets of vishnu as that book is more practical, but this book is more spiritually satisfying than the former.

After reading the book really understood many mythological aspects and concepts which earlier was unaware...
Picture on the left side and the detailed description of that on right side made the book easy to read and also connected the pictures with the story by visualising it..

Author has given a new direction to my beliefs about Shiva altogether. Use of paintings and devotional art to explain his point is what i liked about tnis book. It will definitely change the mindsets of people who don't adore Shiva and believe that only Lord Vishnu is the supreme being. This book explains Shiva from a more logical and researched point of view.
