This book is almost like a poem on Hinduism, more specifically on Vishnu, in prose. This book throws a different, novel perspective on our perception of Lord Vishnu and elevates him as a Super Lord, a God by every measure and mean. Each chapter is description of an Avatar of Vishnu on Earth, heavily mixed with DP's imagination, although strictly abiding to the Hindu description of each of the Avatars. A thoroughly engaging book for anyone who is spiritually inclined.

This is a great book, it makes us aware of what our practices are and how Vishu is present all over India in many forms. If you are in mid career, then lots of tips for leading a well life. The concept of Lakshmi (Prosperity) is the highest form of Maya, and many others are worth visiting.

I have brought it for my mother who loves DP's classical and religious books . However I did manage to read couple of chapters from it and was quite fond of the fluidity and flow of the book . The facts and figures are presented in a very languid manner.
Another Devdutt Pattnaik classic . A must read

too... You will be surprised ... I have my own believes of vishnu ....Though its common.... I could see the Common-ness between incarnation & Origin of species ...

I see Vishnu's incarnation as evolution of Species.. the Works in Hindu mythology are/is more scientific than being myths's ...

Our approach to our texts has be though over, the knowledge has to resurfaced...

Came across this book while surfing the internet and am very happy that I actually ordered it. Explains a lot of things about Lord Vishnu and his various incarnations. I found it very informative and highly recommend it anyone who likes reading books on mythology.
