A bridal chuda is a set of traditional bangles worn by a bride, during her wedding festivities. These bangles are usually made of Maroon, red, or pink-coloured plastic or metal. The set typically consists of a dozen or more bangles, sometimes even reaching up to 21 or 51 bangles in a set. Chudas are significant cultural symbols in Indian weddings, especially in Punjabi and Sikh traditions. The bride traditionally wears them for a specific period after the wedding, typically ranging from 40 to 52 days, symbolizing her newlywed status. After this period, they are ceremonially removed. Besides their cultural significance, bridal chudas are adorned with intricate designs and embellishments like stones, pearls, or even gold, adding to their aesthetic appeal. These bangles are often gifted to the bride by her maternal uncle or other close relatives as a symbol of blessings and good wishes for her married life.
