    Nice read!

I completed it a few days back. And I think it actually uncovers the hidden truths in some way. One person tries to save the whole village from the distress of suicide. And true to his words, he was more of incidental. The whole display of farmer's plight is amazingly captured by Kota Neelima here. Must read as per me!

    good book

The promise made by the theme, which led me to pick up Shoes of the Dead, was fulfilled beautifully by the book. The characters of both the politician and the farmer have been created with insight and sympathy. This book must be read, both by people interested in matters of national policy and by those interested in the dynamics of hereditary politics. Only that, the politician, be aware! Finally a book that puts out the nexus in the open

Never Ending Struggle Of Poor Farmers Against Dirty Politics

A very nicely written book, with on ground reality of a long lasting struggle of poor farmers against dirty politics of the country, by Kota Neelima. It takes a heart and brain to write such a book so neatly and exposing reality so bravely. Characterization has been quite strong - be it a positive or a negative character in the book. Kota Neelima, who is currently a Political Editor for The Sunday Guardian, has a crisp and neat style of decrypt unsaid and encrypted silence that exists in the ...

    Amazing novel!

Kota Neelima has amazingly captured the plight of farmers in 'Shoes of the Dead'. The challenge that Gangiri Bhadra throws on the status quo of farmers in Mityala is worth reading. How the sarpanch, doctors and other administrators are involved in making farmers' plight worse...is something very frustrating. The book gives us all an insight into this prevailing condition. And it was amazingly written.

    A disappointment

The promising theme of 'The Shoes of the Dead' was what made me buy the book, but what a disappointment. None of K. Neelima's characters come alive. There's something unreal about each one of them, as if they realise they were born in the writer's head and will die there. They talk like academics - her journalists, her farmers, her money-lenders, they all speak with absolutely the same flat voice. Neither their sufferings nor their wickedness nor their love nor their hate touch you.

    INDIAN FARMERS IN 21ST CENTURY

A nicely written book, with on ground reality of a long lasting struggle of poor farmers against dirty politics and bureaucracy of our country.

It takes a heart and brain to write such a book so neatly and exposing reality so bravely. Characterization has been quite strong - be it a positive or a negative character in the book.

Overall if we look at Shoes of the Dead, it is undoubtedly established that this sensitive matter existing in the country in reality has been touched so brilliantl...

    Awesome

This is one book which is a must read for Indians. The book really made me cry at the end. I was actually numb for a few moments after completing this book. This is the impact of the book. It's brilliant. I even wrote a complete review about it on my blog. Seriously! if you are an Indian, read it!

This is What Young India Should Read

Well, i was not carrying any expectation as the author was unfamiliar to me so i was just reading the book without bearing any past emotions and understanding. But, i could not trace the point where i felt strong, weak, and adventures with the changing moves of the story. From story point of view, the author has tied lots of unique themes in one line and left the reader stunned with the climax.

It is true that you will have to think after finishing this read.
