Hermann Hesse is really an awesome writer... Really I have become an ardent fan of him.

At first, I thought this book is about Lord Buddha. But actually it is not.

The storybook just depicted a story of a boy named Siddhartha, how he finally reached his final goal- NIRVANA.. SALVATION was the ultimate state.


P.S: Not recommended to everyone. If you like spiritual writing then only go for it, because the book has an higher meaning . And it will confuse and bore you to no end, if you can...

A wonderful depiction of one man's journey through life. The underlying message is listening to the inner voice that is inside and unique to your "self", to lead a life filled with meaning and purpose. It stresses the importance of realized knowledge or wisdom, which is obtained only through action.

This belongs to a different class of books than what I've read in the past few months, perhaps more on the spiritual side, maybe its not for everyone but its definitely made a mark on me.

One of the best Novel out of 18 which I read till now. It is always good learn by experience. It is my first book of Hermann and I will go for few more of his. It is close to every person life. Story of a person seeking for himself and journey to find inner peace.

I was suggested this book by one of my mentors. Flipkart was efficient enough to deliver it to me the very next day of placing the order in a pleasant packaging. The book gives an interesting insight into the life of a young boy Siddhartha (during the time of Gautam Buddha) and captures his journey towards "finding" his ultimate destination. Highly recommend to all literature lovers. Kudos - Herman Hesse, your Nobel was well deserved.

Nicely written lyrical style book - It asks many eternal question at the beginnning , add some usual stuffs in the middle , Ends with satisfactory journey & results.

Good book overall. Please don't mistake this book to be about 'life of Great Soul - Buddha'.

I ordered the paperback version of this book from Flipkart and it arrived the very next day which is always a pleasure.

The book of course is a classic from a Nobel prize winner. The book is translated from German and the translation I felt could have been better, but nonetheless loved the book.

The stages of ones life as depicted through the life of Gotama is the best thing about the book. A must read for all who wonders about the meaning of life just like Gotama! :)

This is a marvellous book on the quest for knowledge by a common man. I do believe everyone who is looking for a real life spiritual book addressing the facets of a common man thoughts and aspiration should read this book.

As i do not want to judge anything in and around my life, i like to express here on what i learned from the reading.
First of all, that i wrongly presumed, it's not about the Buddha himself. It's about a common man's life, and his search for truth; his search for the freedom from suffering.
The lines between the pages were always flowing. The author convinces that there's no such ready made truth or enlightenment or solution available for everyone's life and its questions, unlike many sacred...
