I bought this lens as a regular lens to use in events and at home shooting. I have a canon 50mm f1.8 which is a great lens but was a problem shooting in small places if used with a crop sensor camera.A little zoom and a lens bit faster than regular kit lens was the need.
Pros of the sigma 17-50 are:
1.Feels solid. Rubber grip and although a bit heavy, the lens feels good to handle.Doesnt feel cheap at all.
2. Auto focus doesnt have too much sound at all.

Shigma17-50mm f/2.8 is fantastic lens. with throughout same aperture.very nice photographs in low light.auto focus noise no problem,, only issue zoom ring little bit tight.And it's a heavy too.Good quality photo in less price.

I have been using this lens for last few months and I am very satisfied with it. Suitable for low light indoor shot.

Very good replacement of kit lens. I will recommend this if everyone. Always go for camera body only and get this lens instead of kit lens.
