    Description
May 2012. India is hit by a series of freak weather disturbances and startling epidemics that threaten to bring the country to its knees. At the same time, children are disappearing from the slums in the capital and nobody seems to care.
Stumbling upon these strange and seemingly unrelated incidents, journalist Chandrasekhar, historian Meenakshi Pirzada and intelligence operative Syed Ali Hassan start upon a trail that leads them into the drawing rooms of Delhis glittering high society before reaching a terrifying climax in Bhutan, where they come face-to-face with a force of unspeakable power and evil.
Bestselling author Aroon Raman's third novel, Skyfire, is a heart-stopping thriller that will chill you to the bone.

Great plot, let down by the writing!

Disclosure: I got it free as part of Flipkart's Blogger Review Programme and this review is more than a month late. Sorry, V and the good folks at Flipkart!

    ------------------------

Freak localised weather disturbances are targeting Indian cities, and bringing with them disease and death.....acid rain, burning hot winds, rains carrying deadly viruses etc. No one can explain them, but the highest echelons of Indian intelligence know that these anomalies are man-made, and are, in fact, the ...

    Enthralling Plot

Aroon Raman’s new book “Skyfire” is a gripping tale which is sure to enthrall the readers with its eloquence. This is my first book of Aroon Raman and the fact that this book is a sequel of Shadow Throne his previous work doesn’t hinder the continuity of this book. The characters are well etched in our minds and this book can be read alone without knowing about Shadow Throne. The book is a well researched one and the new scientific terms aren’t bizarre to us nor they petrify the readers about...

    Racy, pacy and unputdownable!

One word: Unputdownable. I am so glad to have picked this book up. Though the initial pace of the book is slow, it catches up as the author describes the fine details of each of the freak weather disturbances and unusual natural occurances. The character sketches of the main protagonists, the trio of Chandrashekhar, Meenakshi Pirzada and Syed Ali Hassan have also been defined very well, each of them has a key role in the plot.

Overall, a pacy and a racy read, not a single dull moment! Now I...

    Good choice

The story. A typical thriller as you might feel from the blurb, this novel is something that you would not even expect it to be. You can feel that from the beginning that this is not an average thriller that you would read on an everyday basis. The way the “freak weather disturbances” and the sightings that have been described in this book is something that I feel is what the author’s speciality. Being the first ever read of the author by me, this book didn’t disappoint me at all. Is this eve...

    Worth every penny

The book is an excellent piece of fiction. The story is about a weird and yet technically advanced sci fi weather alteration mechanism which has been cultivated by an evil force for use for his own diabolical purposes. The story is fast paced in the starting and slows down a little towards the end. The end picks up again. Combined with Aroon Raman's mighty storytelling the story is an unputdownable read. Definitely recommend.

    A well written socio-political thriller

Skyfire is well researched and the intricate details about medicines, weather and other stuffs proves them beyond doubt. The terms really doesn’t confuse the readers as Arron Raman’s narrative does the explaining part better rather than reading in Wikipedia.

The neat narrative of the events unfolding one by one making the readers petrified of what is threatening the national security and the real status of the street urchins of Delhi makes the readers hold the book without even letting them ...

A fast paced thriller misses the last mile...

This is a sequel and I must admit that I am reading the author for the first time. As a series I am sure it helps the reader with continuity and the characters make it easy for readers to relate. But ofcourse this is also stand alone issue that this story concerns with.

The issue of weather calibration to cause damage is core of the plot and on the sidelines we do also have child trafficking embedded into the story. The one on weather and its devasting effects it can unleash is equivalent to...
