  • Description
Parts of India and the world live in the 21st century whereas parts live in the 19th century. Whilst many of us live in times ruled by smartphones and the internet, millions go without easy access to basics like water and electricity.

We live in an opportune moment today. We have, available to us, the technological tools of the 21st century to address 19th century issues. In a fast changing world, will mankind be ruled by smartphones soon or will mankind use technology in life-changing innovations to make our societies far more equitable? Can technology be used to address the most crying needs in our societies today?

The big picture is built by stories about the modern fruits of technology and how these are being used by leadership groups to combine business with social causes. This is an easy read for anyone interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, social issues and the current challenges like excessive corruption that face us today.

A book pertinent for present times

The book is quite a comprehensible read, although dealing with complex matters. It is peppered with personal anecdotes and perhaps that’s the reason I was able to connect well with the content. I am more comfortable with a story-telling concept than a mere essay-type format.

The first chapter, Innovation, kept me chuckling quietly as I nodded my head along most of the content. I could truly relate to the example that the author Parthajeet Sarma had quoted regarding a fast food giant where af...

    A fast read

That man has become a slave of technology is a well known fact. However, doesn't use, or rather, the overuse and abuse of technology defeat the very purpose of technology? In this technology age, where everything can be controlled from a smartphone, are we progressing or are we regressing?

The author has made smart use of statistics and has dwelled upon how the smart people, who invented smart phones, are, in turn, making an entire generation rely heavily on smart phones and technology for e...

    This book gets you thinking

This book offers much to think about in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, both in our country, as well as in the world at large. It also provokes thought pertaining to what India's priorities should be in the coming years, and the major scourge that impedes our economic flourish - corruption.

The book is interspersed with anecdotes from the author's own experiences and is narrated in a simple, conversational style. If you are a grammar purist, the language may not always...
