Not for current syllabus - PLEASE DON'T BUY

If you are preparing for IAS, and willing to take sociology as an optional then please don't buy this book. For general reading this book is fantastic but for civil services you require to find different Haralambos. That is no Mead as a co-author but Holborn.

Many blog do mention this edition but it was helpful before 2008. After Upsc revamped syllabus it is of no use, you should buy Haralambos and Holborn.

    Brilliant book

For UPSC this is better than blue (because blue has unnecessary stuff) and this one has only relevant portion. I have both Blue and Orange .

    Not much substance

Its in my LLB course. It ain't much helpful from examination point of view. There aren't much facts, definitions and such. It is more of a research based book, rendering it limited for just 'meeting' the subject, not 'knowing' it.

    Awesome Book

Although, I have an engineering background, I have recently developed tastes for psychology, sociology and political science. I was recommended this book by a friend of mine and I found this book really useful. I am reading it as a general reader and learner and the theories and concepts are thoroughly explained, even for a beginner.
