best book for beginer and for competition
thew concepts are cleared after reading this book. every major topic is covered . the book fullfils the need of the students.the vast collection of problems helps to test the understanding of the students.

This is one of the few books which will take you to the realms of soil mechanics from the very scratch in a smooth transition. Adequate stress and deliberations has been presented on the chapters related to fundamental concepts which forms the basis of advanced engineering application.
I have read it during the college days and it is with me, still refer to it every other day....
Must have for civil Engineers.

The book covers nearly the entire curriculum of geotechnical engineering taught at undergraduate level in Indian universities. The only drawback of the book remains that there are a very few solved examples of numerical though the book is best as far the theory and clarity of concept is concerned.

Many figures esp mohr circle topics and many others were hand drawn scanned print.
printing quality is very poor, i had to return it.
go for some other edition maybe or other book.

I want to tell you that the pages being numbered from 33 to 48 has been REPLACED by pages 145 to 160. Due to this 15 pages are misprinted. The book is really GOOD indeed. BUT due to the misprinting of MANY pages. Its goodness has lowered at a BIG level.
I want you to CHECK all the pages of any book before it is delivered to any one.This will not create any problem for anyone.
